“Just show up.”

It’s the mantra your favorite fitness influencer probably swears by and they’re not wrong. Consistent effort is the bedrock of any success story.

In a sport like triathlon, showing up is no small feat. Juggling three disciplines—swimming, cycling, and running—while balancing life’s demands is a challenge. Scheduling your training can feel like a tangled web.

This week, we’re diving into how to bring clarity to your triathlon journey. Multisport may be a complex puzzle, but with the right guidance, you’ll piece it together and thrive.

Attendance—create a habit

Missing a session every now and then is normal and often harmless. Sometimes that skipped day is exactly what you need to avoid burnout.

The real problem is consistently missing sessions. That’s a red flag that your plan is unrealistic or that you’re not committed.

Many think the fix is constant motivation, but even the most dedicated athletes hit a lull. “HOO-RAH” energy doesn’t last forever.

What you really need is:

  • Good habits

  • Realistic expectations

A habit is something that requires little to no extra mental energy to execute. An overly complicated or high-load plan drains you. When your mind is pulled in too many directions, execution suffers, and habits never form.

Your System

One of my main jobs as a coach is to help athletes find a system that makes getting the work done almost automatic.

For some, a 5 a.m. workout is perfect. For others, afternoons or evenings work best. I have athletes at Elite Edge who train at every hour of the day and remain consistent because their system fits their life.
